Jane Knieper was born in Germany, educated in classical piano. As a teenager she listened to Aretha Franklin, Billie Holiday, Jazz and Soulmusic. In the age of 18 she played guitar in the first female band in Munich. She collected experience with a Jazzquintett, with a Gospeltrio (Felicia King), with a steelband from Trinidad, with a Soulband and also with Chanson - singers. She went on tour with the Musical "Hair", experienced with theater work and also with studio work.
After her marriage she retreated from stage work, raised her 2 kids and started her homestudio, working for TV- channels ( ZDF, Sat1) as composer for TV - Series and for short films. She started teaching at a music school and returned back to stage, working with her Quartett "Trio Grande", with the Duo "Mel Canady and Jane Knieper", "V.I.P." and as pianist for various singers.
